This introductory course provides an overview of spaceborne laser systems and applications, including an outline of the suite of supports available from PhotonHub and how companies can apply. The online training also provides an open forum for attendees to ask specific questions to experts in the field of photonic technologies and a wide range of laser-application areas. Specifically, the online training course gives an overview of innovative laser systems and applications which are designed and manufactured at LZH in the context of space technologies. Examples such as the development of compact and robust laser sources for harsh environmental conditions to be found e.g. on the Moon and on Mars as well as applications like spaceborne optical communication and processing of lunar regolith for additive manufacturing are presented, demonstrating the high potential of laser-based space technologies.
