The conference is organised by the Swedish Optical Society and PhotonicSweden in conjunction with the Lund University and Lund Laser Centre and sponsored by optics/photonics societies of Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Baltic countries.

The Northern Optics and Photonics conference is targeted to a general audience consisting of researchers, PhD students and representatives from industry of all fields of photonics and optics. The general aim of the conference is to update the audience about new interesting developments and achievements in relevant research areas.
A specific purpose is to stimulate collaboration and interaction with industry and academia and to broaden the knowledge of people who are not experts in the specific field. To fulfill the purpose of the conference the presentations should to a considerable part consist of more general overview material, easily accessible for everyone in the audience. The time frame for the presentation is 20 min with 15 minutes of presentation and 5 minutes for discussion. Conference language is English.
