In the last couple of weeks several digital meetings and online seminars have been conducted by Photonics21 and partners like the European Commission and the European Investment Bank. Also the Photonics21 Bord of Stakeholder Meeting was held digitally for the first time.
The beginning of a series of online seminars has been conducted with the European Investment Bank on April 28th. It outlined a general overview of their products for photonics Start-ups and SMEs. In case you missed the seminar you can find a recording on the Photonics21 Youtube channel.
A further seminar will be held in the upcoming weeks with a deep dive into the venture debt product of the European Investment Bank. More information will soon be available on our website.
On short notice the European Commission published a call related to solutions for Covid-19. In order to inform the photonics community and to answer questions on the call text Photonics21 organised a webmeeting especially for interested photonics companies on May 20th. With more than 150 participants this was a great succes and led to 25% of the proposals for this call to be photonics proposals.
This information meeting was complemented by a digital matchmaking event which was taking place on May 25th with more than 60 participants.
On 25th June 2020 the first digital Photonics21 Board of Stakeholder meeting was held to update the decision-making body of the Photonics21 platform on various topics. 60 Board of Stakeholder members participated in the meeting.
Part of the meeting have been updates by the European Commission on latest developments an on Horizon Europe and updates by the Photonics21 secretariat on activities which have been conducted in the last couple of months.
Till the end of the year the major tasks for Photonics21 and the community will include the update of the European Photonics Strategic Research Agenda and according to that a structural change of the platform itself. Additionally a new photonics market study is under preparation which is planned to be published early 2021.
During the meeting the first Executive Board online election was closed with the result that all positions which were open for election were confirmed by a majority vote.
