Dear Photonics21 members,
In this newsletter edition we would like to update you on the ongoing Photonics Multiannual Roadmap process as well as latest Photonics PPP project news.
As always you will find some further European photonics news and upcoming events. If you would like to inform the Photonics21 membership on any photonics activities or events within your national or regional photonics community or provide us your feedback to the Photonics21 newsletter you can send it to SECRETARIAT@PHOTONICS21.ORG.
Best regards

Inform - Photonics PPP Multiannual Roadmap Process
|
The Photonics PPP Multiannual Roadmap process is currently in further progress. While Photonics21 work group 5 has already finalized its input to the photonics roadmap document the other work groups are still working on their final version. A workshop on "Automotive and Transport" and "Agriculture and Food" have recently collected input for the photonics roadmap.
At the upcoming Photonics21 Board of Stakeholder meeting on 19th November each Photonics21 work group chair will provide a status report to the decision-making body of Photonics21.
In the further process the roadmap document will be layouted and will be officially published and handed over to the European Commission at the next Photonics PPP Annual Meeting which is planned in spring 2019.
For further information you can download all relevant work group sections in the member area of the Photonics21 website www.photonics21.org .

Save the date & join – EC workshop Performance Assessment and Standardization in Biophotonics Workshop, 26th October 2018, Brussels
|
After a lot of effort in the lab, the worst nightmare is that the medical device you developed will fail in clinical trials on human beings. To avoid that, the potential new device is tested on simulated tissues and organs. However, standard and certified phantoms do not exist in most cases and especially for new techniques. This workshop intends to start a discussion within the Biophotonics community to share experiences and possibly agree on a way forward.
Any further details and the registration link is available on the EC website.

Inform about the activities of the KETs Observatory
|
The KETs Observatory is an online monitoring platform that aims to provide the EU, national and regional policy makers and business stakeholders with quantitative and qualitative information on the deployment of Key Enabling Technologies (KETs; that also include Photonics) both within the EU and in comparison with other world regions (e.g. East Asia, North America).
Key Enabling Technologies fuel economic growth and provide jobs. The KETs Observatory contains the most recent sets of quantitative data on patents, production, employment and trade for each Key Enabling Technology. Further details are available at https://ec.europa.eu/growth/tools-databases/kets-tools/kets-observatory/analytics .
Manufacturing companies in Europe can benefit from the high potential of promising KETs-based products. Get more information at the KETs Observatory with the analytical reports at: https://ec.europa.eu/growth/tools-databases/kets-tools/kets-observatory/value-chains
The KETs Observatory is growing! More data and materials will be added to the KETs Observatory in the coming weeks, for example, updated individual country profiles for EU and non-EU countries: https://ec.europa.eu/growth/tools-databases/kets-tools/kets-observatory/country/profiles
