International School on Light Sciences and Technologies

June 19-23, 2017, Santander, Spain

Aware of the key role that light is playing and what is more important will play in the sciences, in technologies in the economies and in the societies of the XXI century, the UIMP has decided to create the "International School on light Sciences and Technologies (ISLIST)". This school is envisioned to be a worldwide top International forum (every fourth week of June) on Light Sciences and Technologies in the framework of a "special top university" that is recognized as the "university of universities" and in a privileged environment: The Royal Magdalena Palace in Santander, Cantabria, Spain. Each edition of this international school will have an intensification or main core in a specific application area and additional current hot topics.

Light in Energy and Environment is the core of this 2017 edition.

For more information visit the schools website and download the official announcement.

The Call for applications of International Student Grants is now Open

The application can be performed from February 27 to April 2, 2017. Students will be notified of grant assignments by April 7, 2017. A minimum of 15 grants will be assigned.

The call for applications of Grants for Spanish Students or Students of any nationality but working/studying in Spanish institutions will start (tentatively) during April 2017 and the due date will be at the end of this month. A minimum of 15 grants will be assigned.

In any case, Bachelor, Master and PhD Students can apply for two kinds of student grants: i) Registration Grants or ii) Full Grants that covercourse registration, accommodation and living expenses.

Photonics for Health - Poseidon Summer School 2017

June 18-22, 2017, San Martino di Castrozza, Italy

The aim of the Summer School "Photonics for Health" is at focusing on different applications of photonic devices on theme "Health" and at disseminating the results of some European Projects, giving information about the most recent and relevant research topics.

The class topics will contain basic photonics components, related technologies and design methods. Speakers will cover multidisciplinary know-how including competences on:

  • Photonics & Immunoplasmonics
  • Biosensing & Biochemistry
  • Microfluidics, System Integration & Engineering

Photonics will be presented as the basis and the core technology but a lot of other common research topics are essential to reach the success.

Among lectures and social events in the amazing surroundings of the Dolomites Mountains, even EU funded projects will be presented as significant case studies of Photonics applied to Health for Diagnostics and for Bio-Security. In the context of Photonics 21 platform, this Summer School will give to the participants the unique opportunity of exploiting the potentialities of the European network.

Applications are open. More information can be found on the school's website.

Summer School on Plasmonics

September 3-8, Porquerolles, France

Submissions and registrations for the 4th Summer School On Plasmonics (SSOP4) are now open.

The school will be held on September 3-8, 2017, in Porquerolles, one of the most beautiful island of the Mediterranean sea.

Lectures and tutorials presented by international specialists on plasmonics will cover the following topics:

  • Resonant Light scattering by nanoparticles
  • Interaction forces between plasmonic nanoparticles
  • Hyperbolic Metamaterials, Metasurfaces
  • Purcell factor, single photon sources, FRET, fluorescence, strong coupling
  • NSOM microscopy
  • Spectral filters
  • DNA nanotechnologies, plasmonic sensors
  • Cathodoluminescence spectroscopy
  • Nanofabrication technologies,Ellipsometry and polarimetry

We welcome contributions for oral and poster presentations and encourage students, junior and senior researchers to join the school to share their latest advances and benefit from the scientific environment in a privileged location. The program will consist of lectures and courses, oral contributions and poster sessions.

This school being sponsored by the french center for scientific research (CNRS), grants will be available for CNRS members.

You can now submit your one-page abstract before June 15th, 2017.
